This demanding hike combines diverse terrains, rock climbing, and unmarked trails, making it a true adventure for seasoned hikers. The moderate 4 to 6-hour journey (with breaks) is open to all hiking enthusiasts and individuals with great stamina. However, for beginners or those who prefer a more leisurely pace, or have a fear of heights, you can opt for a scenic return journey from the renowned Hanging Garden, accompanied by one of our team assistants. How to get to the Hiking Start point
To reach the starting point, drive from Dubai via the old Jebel Jais road (approximately 90 minutes). Stop at the Tea Shop on old jabel jais road and follow the rough road for 8 km. Reach the Wadi Al Nimr villlage and park before the near the farmhouse.
The Hike Difficulty Level:
The Leopard Canyon hike is a challenging trek that combines different types of terrain, including:
– Boulders walk
– Loose stones
– Rock climbing (technical and non-technical)
– Unmarked trails
– Donkey routes
The hike starts in the village, where you’ll follow the trail to the right, then left, navigating uneven terrain and landscapes shaped by floods and rains. Reach the Hanging Garden, a well-maintained summit point for beginner hikers. Enjoy the stunning views and take a break.
Continue to the steep incline towards the canyon, offering breathtaking views of the wadi, peaks, and canyons ahead. Stop for photography and water breaks at the canyon.
Climb up to the 2nd canyon, crossing the vertical wall rock (10-15 meters) via non-technical or technical routes. Take another break and enjoy the surroundings.
The Descent
Follow the narrow trail from the Chan Village, passing by old houses and encountering goats and donkeys. Cross the village gorge towards the left and descend back to Al Nimr village, completing the loop hike.
