Wadi Daftah Hike – Hajar Mountains UAE
Overview
Wadi Daftah is an adventurous Hajar Mountains hike combining rocky wadi walking, dramatic mountain scenery and scrambling. The route follows the wadi before reaching dry-waterfall sections where fixed cables assist hikers over steeper rock.
Our Wadi Daftah route is approximately 7 km, with around 200 m of elevation gain, and normally takes approximately 3 hours to complete. Although the distance and elevation gain are relatively moderate, hikers should be comfortable scrambling and using the fixed cables on the steeper sections.
The route continues through rugged mountain terrain with rocky trails, acacia trees and open views across the surrounding Hajar Mountains. The descent includes loose rock in places, so careful footing and controlled movement are important, particularly on the steeper sections.
This combination of wadi walking, scrambling, fixed-cable sections and a loose-rock descent makes Wadi Daftah an interesting step up from a straightforward wadi hike. Alpine Trekkers leads the route according to the group's experience and current trail conditions.
